About Me
Hi, my name is Annie Lawless and I am a Michigan State University Graduate. I have a major in mathematics and a minor in chemistry, and will be highly qualified to teach grades 6 through 12. I am currently finished with my year-long internship at Waverly Middle School in a seventh grade math class. This year I have performed all teacher-related activities including introducing and enforcing classroom management policies. I have also created unit plans, individual lesson plans of high cognitive demand, and assessments. I have worked with a diverse student population at a school that is being aided by a School Improvement Grant (SIG). This grant has provided me the opportunity to use a large variety of technology in the classroom.
Throughout my undergrad career at MSU, I was an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for the Mathematics Department. I taught one semester of each Pre-calculus, and Calculus 1, and two semesters of College Algebra and Finite Math to MSU students. I was also a math tutor at the MSU Learning Resources Center for three years, where I tutored MSU students in math classes from College Algebra to Calculus 1.
I have always wanted to be a teacher, but truly realized this dream in sixth grade after having a phenomenal math teacher. In high school, I tutored high school students in math. It is my goal as a math teacher to share my love for math with my students and not only teach them about math, but also teach them valuable life lessons.
